ABOUT THE ISSUE:
FIRST STANDARD RÉIS: 1695 - 1834. Imperial Period 1822 - 1889. 1st Reign: Dom Pedro I - Casa de Bragança - 1st Emperor of Brazil - 1822 - 1831. 28th King of Portugal
The Imperial Period began after the Declaration of Independence in relation to the Kingdom of Portugal, on September 7, 1822 and extended until November 15, 1889 when a military coup established the Republican System of Government. During the 67 years that the Brazilian Empire lasted, we can divide it into two distinct periods: First Reign, which begins on September 7, 1822 and ends on April 7, 1831, when D. Pedro I abdicated the throne in favor of his son Pedro de Alcântara, only 5 years old. The Second Reign, which began with a period of regency until the age of D. Pedro II, lasted until the Proclamation of the Republic.
